New Year, New Shoes

It's taken me 2 months to finally decide to take my new shoes out of the box! Husband was lovely enough to surprise me with a new pair Christian Louboutin heels for christmas and I've been too scared to wear them out simply because they're too nice. But, something that gorgeous shouldn't stay hidden away in the top of the wardrobe so I thought what better occasion for their maiden voyage than out to dinner for Husband & I's second wedding anniversary. This is the Louboutin Plisseta and the classic style & colour mean they're wearable with anything and the quirky heel gives them just enough of an edge to make them interesting. Very happy feet indeed. 

Beamon Me Up, Scotty

I usually don't need an excuse to wear excessive bling or decorate myself in unnecessarily lavish earrings and necklaces. I would wear my Nan's huge multi-strand antique black beaded necklace everyday on the way to work on the tube if it didn't invite such suspicious looks. Now that Christmas is (scarily!) just around the corner it's the perfect time to pick up some of the amazingly gorgeous pieces from Erickson Beamon.

The designs are just the right combination of vintage and modern and they have the ability to bring any outfit together and make it feel festive and glamorous. The versatility of the pieces mean that they will look just as good with jeans and a T-shirt as they do with an evening gown. I also love that Erickson Beamon uses gold, silver and other bronze and rose tones in the same piece making them wearable with all your other jewellery at the same time (a current obsession I'm having) so you don't have to forgo wearing a certain piece if it doesn't match with other tones you're wearing. In other words, you don't have to stick to being strictly a "gold" or "silver" girl. I know what will definitely be on my list to Santa this year.

Pale Days

This outfit is from a while back and now that the weather has suddenly turned, it already seems outdated. Even so, I'm still a big fan of a soft colour palate and mixed and matched pale tones. Wearing big clunky wedges like this also makes it easier and more flattering when you have a slightly over-sized or lose fitting outfit on. I think pale-ish colours head to toe are definitely only wearable when the sun is (kind of) out. This look certainly wouldn't fly in the midst of an autumn downpour or gale force winds! For the up-coming cooler months just add a hint of pale, like all the amazing neutral shades that are big right now, to lighten up the usual black on black on grey usual suspects that plague wardrobes during winter.

Inbetweeners

It seems to be that kind of weather at the moment that is continuously deceptive. Looking out the window the sun is out! (the trees are also blowing as if there's a hurricane down the block but I decide to ignore that part). However its not exactly "summertime" (besides the fact that its June thank-you-very-much) so getting the right weather-outfit ratio is a bit tricky. My answer to this conundrum seems to be long sleeve button up shirts, then you can get away with bare legs if its still a bit breezy. Rocket science, right? I can't get my hands on enough chambray/acid/check/flannel shirts at the moment and am kind of wishing I could get away with wearing this much comfy-ness everyday!

Wedged In

If you haven't already jumped on the wedge trend bandwagon this season... what are you waiting for?!? If you hurry you can still catch that wagon before if leaves town forever leaving you behind to eat it's fashion-savy dust!
There are so many great styles around at the moment of the wedge/clog/mule variation that there's definitely something for everyone's taste. I love how it's a great way for the somewhat height-challenged like me to get away with wearing a heel casually in the day without looking too OTT, plus extra points for a wood-effect heel!
